Have you tried Facebook’s Promoted Posts yet?
I highly recommend that you consider it!
Here’s a screen shot of a post that I boosted for The Canadian Liver Foundation Manitoba Chapter’s
upcoming fundraising event Karma In The Park.
As you can see above, I spent $16.00 on this Facebook Promoted Post. That small amount got me 4,594 views.
When you purchase a Facebook Promoted Post you can specifically target your audience on Facebook by location – (Country, Province, City), language, age and gender. So I know that the post above was seen by people who speak English located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada between the ages of 18 – 60 years old. The same cannot be said when you purchase a print ad in your local newspaper!
Why try Facebook Promoted Posts?
According to Facebook: “Pages organically reach about 16% of their fans on average” and “Fans may miss content from friends or business Pages if they are not logged onto the site during a period when your posts are active in Newsfeed”.
Where can you use Facebook Promoted Posts?
You can promote any post you share from your News Feed, profile or Page, including status updates, photos, videos, and offers. BUT – be sure to check with The Facebook Advertising Guidelines before starting.
How to create your Facebook Promoted Posts
Facebook has a handy Grid Tool available to help you prepare your image for your promoted posts. You’re only allowed to have a maximum of 20% of text covering your image. (I had to try this a few times before I got it). See below for how I used the Facebook Grid Tool to create my ad:
While I personally like the Facebook Promoted Posts option – I also want to leave you with a couple opinions from others. One of my favorite things about Social Media is that we can all agree to disagree!
- Andrew Foxwell, Director of Social Media for PPC Associates says ‘Good Advertisers Do NOT Promote Posts“
- I also recommend that you read “Can Promoted Posts Help Your Business” by Lauren Drell. (She agrees with me)!
Get your business on Facebook!
One thing that we can all agree upon is that if your business doesn’t have a Facebook Page yet – you’re missing out on great opportunities. (Plus it appears you don’t know what you’re doing). If you don’t have a Facebook Page for your business yet – Create one NOW!
Support The Canadian Liver Foundation Manitoba!
I hope you will consider supporting The Canadian Liver Foundation Manitoba Chapter
by ‘Liking’ their Facebook page and getting involved with their upcoming fundraising events!
As a recent survivor of Liver Disease (Hepatitis C) –
I thank you!
